Job Description:

A leading Texas-based law firm in Uptown with national practices serving clients across the country, is seeking an experienced, top tier, and professional Litigation Legal Assistant to join their Business Litigation Practice Group.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to attorneys.
  • Prepare and edit legal documents and correspondence, saving to the document management system; proofread to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Proofreading and cite checking briefs.
  • Docketing case deadlines.
  • Filings in state and federal courts.
  • Maintain document management databases.
  • Review, organize, and process client billing in a timely manner.
  • Research and respond to requests for information from attorneys and clients.
  • Enter attorney time; review and revise time sheets accurately.
  • Manage and monitor calendaring of deadlines and key dates.
  • Calendaring and interaction with clients and other contacts regarding meetings and scheduling.
  • Coordinate business travel arrangements.
  • Develop and organize electronic and physical files; maintain systems to promote organization and efficiency.
  • Prepare conflict of interest checks and open new client files.
  • Prepare engagement letters and conflict waivers.
  • Coordinate with Audit Committee to prepare audit responses for clients.
  • Process expense reports/reimbursement requests.
  • Assist assigned attorneys with CLE compliance and business development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant in a law firm is required.
  • Prior litigation experience is required; the ideal candidate will have experience in federal court litigation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Good working knowledge of document management systems.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle and adjust to competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and team work skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • A high level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.

Compensation & Benefits:

The firm offers a very competitive benefit package, 37.5 hour work week, parking, etc. in beautiful offices in Uptown!  This position is onsite Monday-Friday.

Salary range:  $75,000-85,000 DOE
